Special E-Book Collection for Kids

TumbleBooks is a collection of animated, talking picture books and chapter books which can be viewed using any reading/mobile device that has an internet connection.  The collection includes fiction, non-fiction, Read-Alongs, foreign language titles, puzzles and games.

Our TumbleBooks collection is now available on your tablet or smartphone!  The apps for both Apple iOS and Android devices and can be found in the AppStore or Google Play.

Library Mentoring Program Begins in October!

This program meets on Monday afternoons and is open to all Chester residents in 3rd – 5th grade.  Students are mentored by high school students and sessions are supervised by a certified teacher.  Mentoring can focus on homework, a particular school subject or study and organizational skills.  Join us for a Parent Information Meeting at the library on Monday, Oct. 7th at 6 pm to learn more and to register for this program.

Library Babies

Mondays, September 9th and September 23rd  at 11:00 am

This special program meets twice a month for infants and children up to 24 months.

Will include rhymes, stories and songs. Older siblings always welcome.

Preschool Story Time

Tuesdays at 10:30 am and Wednesdays at 2:00 pm

  

  Preschoolers will enjoy stories, songs and a craft while building important literacy skills.  All ages welcome.

Lego Club

Saturday, September 14th  10:30 – 11:30 am

Have fun building your own Lego creation at the Library with friends. Bring your imagination and we’ll supply the Legos. All ages welcome!

Paws Reading Buddies

Wednesday, September 18th  6:30 – 7:30 pm

Children gain confidence while reading aloud to a trained therapy dog.  Bring a favorite book or borrow one of ours.

Kids will receive a PAWS reading log to be stamped every time they read with one of the dogs – when their log is full they earn a free book!

Preschool Fall Craft Program

Thursday, September 19th  10:30 – 11:30 am

Stop by the library and be creative with some fun fall crafts for preschoolers! We’ll be making a paper scarecrow, leaf rubbings and a stamped corn cob.

Wednesday, Sept. 25th  6:00 – 7:15 pm

Learn tips from a chess instructor and have fun playing other students at this monthly program For students who would like to learn chess and players who want to improve their skills! Best for students in grades 2 – 8.
